Saratoga County homeowners share their ductwork stories
Ducts are easy to forget because you never see them. These Google reviews come from homeowners, in their own words. We fixed noisy ductwork for some, rebuilt runs a past homeowner damaged for others, and built custom ducts for new systems.

I have been using Stable Air Heating & Cooling since 2022. I originally contacted them to replace my aging furnace. Not only did they give me a great price, the work they did made a world of difference. I had ticking noises in the ductwork prior, the owner took time to redo some of the ductwork …
Anthony installed central AC and a new furnace in our house. The AC has worked great, even on the hottest days. We have not used the heat much yet, but we are very excited for the built in whole house humidifier, that he installed as part of the system. In the winter, we'll have hot humid air …
Stable Air exceeded my expectations in nearly every way. The owner was extremely well communicative not only while price shopping, but once we had confirmed and begun the work. The work itself was professional and top of the line in quality and performance. They gave us an upgraded unit for the …
In 2023, after installing solar panels, we decided to ditch our gas furnace and transition to heat pumps for heating and cooling to finish our home’s transition to all-electric. Tony was very knowledgeable and did a fantastic job, including making sure we had heat pumps that could handle the winter …
Back in 2022, Stable Air completed a full overhaul of our HVAC system, removing our old, extremely inefficient fuel oil furnace and base board heating and replacing it with a brand-new ducted heat pump system with all-new ductwork. They also upgrade our homes insulation by sealing and insulating …
We can't recommend Stable Air Heating & Cooling enough! As first-time homebuyers, we unfortunately learned the hard way that we had been taken advantage of when purchasing our home. The house had vents throughout for central AC, and there was clear evidence that a unit had previously been …
We worked with the owner of Stable Air Heating and Cooling last October to upgrade our entire home to mini splits for efficient heating and cooling. What a difference! The units are nearly silent, and manage not only the temperature perfectly but we notice how comfortable the humidity level stays …
Highly recommended- I had a complex project and Stable Air was the only team who provided a solution, and was reasonably priced. I had an oil furnace and some duct work running through my 200 year old farm house, and no a/c. I wanted to convert to solar power and have mini splits to have clean …
Anthony is the BEST to work with. He replaced my 1950 furnace which included having to custom make some of the vent work. I really appreciated that when he came to do the estimate he actually sat down with me and gave me the time I needed to discuss my options and answer my questions! Even better …

Is duct cleaning worth it for your home?
Sometimes. Duct cleaning makes the most sense after a renovation, in a house with an unknown history, when dust blows out of the registers or after mice or insects get into the ducts. Not every house in Saratoga County needs it on a schedule, and we'll tell you if yours needs cleaning, sealing, repair or nothing at all.
Every bit of air your furnace, AC or heat pump moves goes through the ducts. Over the years in a Saratoga County house they collect dust, pet hair, drywall dust from renovations and whatever slips past a loose or missing filter. Some of it settles in the ducts, and some ends up on the blower and coil, where it cuts airflow and makes the system work harder.
More about filters and clean ducts
Cleaning the ducts and then running a cheap filter that doesn't fit just starts the clock over. So we check the filter setup too. Dustin King went with an electric filter when he replaced his furnace with us.

Signs your ducts need cleaning or repair in Saratoga County
Dust that builds up on furniture faster than it should, or puffs out of a register when the system starts, is usually the first sign. Other signs are a musty smell when the heat or AC kicks on and one room that never gets enough air. Ticking or rattling in the ductwork, debris you can see in the registers and any sign of mice or insects count too.
Dirt that gets past the ducts coats the blower wheel and the coil, and both lose efficiency as it builds. Leaky or crushed ducts dump heat and cooling you already paid for into a basement, attic or crawl space in January or July. Noise in the ducts is usually a fitting, a seam or a run that was never put together right.
More about uneven rooms
Uneven rooms in a Saratoga County house aren't always a cleaning problem. Sometimes the ducts are clean but too small, badly laid out or disconnected somewhere you can't see. That is why some of our duct jobs end up as repair or redesign work instead.

Ductwork in older Saratoga County homes
A lot of older houses here got their ductwork after they were built, often in pieces. Runs added years apart tend to leak and sag. The village where our shop sits is a historic district, with cottages going back to 1868.
Forced air systems also run a lot here. NOAA's 1991 to 2020 normals for Albany Airport show about 6,357 heating degree days a year and an average January low of 15.9°F. So a furnace or heat pump runs for a big part of the year and pushes more air, and more dust, through the ducts.
More about attic and basement ducts
Summer brings a different issue. Albany's average July high is 83.9°F, and ducts running through a hot attic or a damp basement pick up heat or moisture before the air reaches your rooms. Sealing those runs, and insulating them where it makes sense, helps the system deliver what it makes.

What happens during a duct cleaning visit in Saratoga County
We start by looking at the registers and returns, the blower compartment and the filter setup. We also check whatever ductwork we can see in the basement, attic or utility room of your Saratoga County home. If the real problem is something other than dirt, like a disconnected run or a crushed section, you hear about it before any cleaning starts.
Then we clean the supply and return ducts in your Saratoga County home, the registers and grilles, and the parts of the system dirty air has been passing over. At the end a clean filter goes in, and we run the system and check airflow at the registers. If repairs or sealing make sense, you get options and pricing first.
More about tune-ups and a real ductwork job
Duct cleaning pairs well with the $79 furnace or AC tune-up, since the blower and coil are already part of the job. Ask whether both can happen on the same visit when you book. If you've been thinking about a whole-house humidifier, bring that up too.
Dustin King first called us to replace an aging furnace, and the ductwork got attention as part of that job because, in his words, "I had ticking noises in the ductwork prior." Dustin wrote that we "took time to redo some of the ductwork that was causing it and also sealed the ductwork." The noise came from how the ducts were built in Dustin's house, so cleaning alone wouldn't have fixed it.
Dustin has had us back since for a new thermostat and humidifier, and he wrote that we "also re-ran some ductwork to the garage" that had been torn out earlier to run water and power.
Ductwork comes up on bigger jobs in Saratoga County too. When Ryan Bochacki moved to heat pumps, the house needed "custom fabricated ductwork that was needed to integrate the system into our existing ductwork and accommodate multiple zones". On Gerrad Bohl's 200 year old farmhouse, we removed the oil furnace and added additional duct work for a whole home heat pump.
