Ductless heating and cooling in Saratoga Springs, NY
A mini split is the usual fix for a Saratoga Springs house that never had ducts, because it reaches the room through one small hole in an outside wall. Saratoga Springs was already considered a top upscale resort by 1870. If your house dates from anywhere near those years, it was built long before central air existed, and running new ducts through finished plaster is the expensive fix.
We install Fujitsu mini splits in Saratoga Springs, NY, and we are Stable Air Heating & Cooling. Our storefront is at 30 Wood Rd in Round Lake, 11.3 miles from the city by road, mostly on the Northway and then US 9. The city had 14,605 housing units at the 2020 census.

Highly recommended- I had a complex project and Stable Air was the only team who provided a solution, and was reasonably priced. I had an oil furnace and some duct work running through my 200 year old farm house, and no a/c. I wanted to convert to solar power and have mini splits to have clean …
I bought a mr cool DIY mini split ac system from home depot. I called many ac company's to get it installed. None would install it apparently it was not a reliable brand. I guess I was just looking to save money. Then later that day the owner of Stable air called me back. We talked for a while then …
We picked Stable Air to install a minisplit system in our 1950's cape-style kit house home because when we met with him it was clear he cared deeply about the quality of his work and understands the importance of doing a job right the first time. Stable Air's quote was competitive and included …
We had Stable Air come and assess our central air conditioning system that was no longer functioning. We needed to understand what was happening, whether or not it was worth fixing given the age of the unit and what the associated costs would be for fixing versus replacing. We got all that and more …
We worked with the owner of Stable Air Heating and Cooling last October to upgrade our entire home to mini splits for efficient heating and cooling. What a difference! The units are nearly silent, and manage not only the temperature perfectly but we notice how comfortable the humidity level stays …

Stable Air did an excellent job installing a mini split for me. The mini split heats and cools my entire condo. My electric bill has been significantly reduced. Stable air installed five mini splits for heating and cooling in an addition and 2 floors of the house. There were efficient, knowledgeable, neat and very professional I would use them again on any project that I have in the future. I will see them again soon for scheduled cleaning and maintenance. …

Mini splits for older Saratoga Springs houses without ducts
Older houses are usually where ductless makes the most sense, because there's nowhere to hide a duct run without opening plaster. We put the indoor heads high on a wall and route the line sets along the outside of the house wherever we can. So the trim and moldings inside stay as they are.
Gerrad Bohl's 200 year old farmhouse had an oil furnace, some duct work and no a/c. The oil furnace came out, and a whole home heat pump and a mini split went in. That job wasn't in Saratoga Springs, but it's the same kind of house.
More about getting rid of window units
Kathryn Kennedy ran window units before switching, and she wrote that "most of our windows were occupied with huge AC units." Getting the windows back is part of why people go ductless.

Sizing a mini split for Saratoga Springs winters
Size it for heating first, because Saratoga Springs runs a little colder than Albany. At the Saratoga Springs 4 SW station, NOAA's 1991 to 2020 normals show 16.5 inches of snow in January by itself and an average February low of 16.0°F. So we choose cold-climate equipment for heating first and treat cooling as the easier half of the job.
Backup heat is worth talking about too. Gerrad Bohl's system has backup electric heat coils, and he wrote that needing them "has only happened once when it was -10."
More about where the outdoor unit goes
With that much snow, the outdoor unit goes on a stand or bracket that keeps it clear of drifts and roof runoff, in a spot we pick with you.

What if your Saratoga Springs central air quits?
Some mini split jobs start as a broken central AC. Mary Lynne Hamilton had us assess hers and wrote that she "gained an education on mini splits vs what we had and had pricing in hand before he left." Half the work on her system was in the attic, which she said was intolerable on 90 plus degree days.
If you'd like the repair priced first, start with AC repair in Saratoga Springs. You'll see the fix and a ductless option together.
More about financing a replacement
On a bigger replacement there's $1,000 off a full system upgrade and 0% for 21 months (up to $15k). The plans are on the 0% financing page.

Saratoga Springs rooms a mini split can fix
In an older house the hard rooms are usually the top floor and anything added on later. Kathryn Kennedy described before her install how "immediately hot and humid our second floor gets in the summers," and a head on that floor is the usual answer.
Bedrooms are the other one, because noise matters there. Kate Caddell moved her whole home to mini splits and wrote that "The units are nearly silent."
